This year was the first year we have been able to wake up at home on Christmas morning. It was so great to just be relaxed in our pajamas and take our time. Usually, we are visiting relatives, but it just worked out this way this year. I believe it is actually the very first time I have ever opened gifts at home on Christmas morning, including my childhood. When I was younger, Santa always came to our house during the Christmas Eve church service, and then we would stay up late opening the gifts after church. In the morning, we’d go to Christmas Day church and then leave town to visit relatives.
This year, Santa brought Peytra a doll crib, and he brought Stryker a punching balloon and a bulldozer. He also brought bubble bath for them to share, and a new set of measuring cups for the whole family. We also had other gifts to open from friends and relatives who had mailed them or dropped them off ahead of time.
We made a big mess, and when it was all over and toys were everywhere, the thing that interested Peytra the most was a tiny ribbon curl.
