Kay and Keith at the Outback

Yesterday was Keith’s 30th birthday.  He got lots of phone calls from people wishing him a happy birthday, and also lots of cards in the mail, so that was nice.  For supper,  we went out to the Outback Restaurant with his mom, stepdad, grandma, brothers, and sister-in-law.  Then we came back to the house afterwards and had some delicious chocolate cake (that you see in the picture) that his stepdad, John, made.  There were 30 candles on the cake, and Keith got them all blown out, eventually.

Stryker and I got Keith the Iron Gym pull-up bar that he wanted.  Stryker pretty much managed to keep it a secret.  On the day that we had bought it, we were sitting in the living room after supper, and Stryker said, “Daddy, we bought you a present today.”  I said, “Shush – don’t talk about that!”  Then Stryker had said, “It’s a – ” but fortunately, Grandma was sitting close enough to cover his mouth, so he didn’t let the secret out.  And from then on, he didn’t talk about it except to tell Keith that we wrapped his present one day.
